Dr. Stephen Ray is a 1978 graduate of Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC) and has been in active practice for nearly 45 years. He is one of the co-authors of the textbook “Clinical Chiropractic: A Specific Biomechanical Approach”, published in 1992 by Williams & Wilkens, and was an adjunct professor of Chiropractic Technique at WSCC. Dr. Ray holds post-graduate advanced certification in Whiplash and Brain Trauma from The Spine Research Institute of San Diego (SRISD) and was an assistant researcher in live-human volunteer low-speed motor vehicle crash testing and car crash injuries at SRISD, 2003-2006. He served a term on both the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners Peer Review Committee and the Oregon Board of Massage Therapy Examiners.
Over the years Dr. Ray developed successful Chiropractic practices in Oregon and Hawai’i. He recently joined the practice of Dr. Scott Shephard at the Shephard Clinic of the Chiropractic Arts in Northwest Portland where he specializes in the treatment of patients injured in automobile crashes. He lives on Sauvie Island with his spouse Elizabeth Newhall, MD.
